Description

605 is looking for highly skilled data scientists, statisticians, and other skilled researchers (PhD, ABD, Masters with experience, or comparable). Being able and excited to analyze large and messy data is part of the job, as is having the skills to flexibly work on a variety of different projects over the course of a week.

A senior analyst’s day-to-day tasks would include:

  • Working independently or collaborating on large and complex data science problems and analyses
  • Leading and mentoring more junior analysts
  • Communication with clients to develop analytical solutions within client context
  • Applying or adapting machine methods to new problems, or developing new tools as needed
  • Collaborating with software engineers to implement methods in production
  • Working with client/sales team to build new business opportunities

Senior Analyst Qualifications

PERSONALITY

  • Able and excited to analyze large and messy data
  • Strict integrity, able to work with confidential, private, and high-value client information
  • Value correctness, but able to optimize within constraints
  • Intellectual flexibility to adapt existing tools, algorithms, methods to new needs
  • Can balance workload across a variety of different projects over the course of a week
  • Find stable threads to explore within amorphous and changing business problems

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • PhD, ABD, Masters with experience, or comparable skills
  • Skilled in R and/or Python
  • Strong machine learning and/or statistical skills and intuition. Solid understanding of biased data, overfitting, ensemble methods
  • Strong ability to communicate about data structure and characteristics, analytical techniques, and findings to a variety of audiences

VALUABLE SKILLS

  • Experience working in analytics in the entertainment industry or in television or digital marketing
  • Design and analysis of experiments
  • Analysis of high-dimensional time series or event stream data
  • Adapting, implementing, and scaling various machine learning techniques
  • Able to understand/modify/update code in other languages, preferably Scala, Java, or C+
